More Craftiness from the Uncrafty
Yes, my good friend Stephanie came through AGAIN!! She is amazing! The budget is nonexistent this year and she came up with a great idea for Christmas gifts. I put some of my favorite Christmas music (including Sinatra, Michael Bouble, Mercy Me, Casting Crowns and George Winston) on a CD and Stephanie helped me make these adorable CD holders. Of course they were easy! Of course they were fun! Of course Becca helped me! I have included pictures so you can see how adorable they are. Contact Stephanie on her blog for instructions.

Ten Stupid Things That Bug Me
I know you are all wondering what really bugs me. Thankfully, not much to speak of. However, here are the top ten stupid (or not so stupid) things that get me going (in no particular order)....
1. People who forget how to drive when it rains. (Can you tell it has been raining non-stop for 2 days now?) Turn your lights on and slow down people. Really, this is not that hard.
2. Unkind people. Is it honestly that hard to smile and be kind to one another? Maybe Rodeny King was on to something......
3. People who walk their dog and let it poop in someone's yard without picking it up. Bags are everywhere. If you don't have any, save those cheap ones from the grocery store. I never poop in your yard, why would you do that to me?
4. When I am reading a book and there are typos. Don't people get paid big bucks to proofread? If I find something like that, it ruins the book for me. I know, I am a freak.
5. Putting the big forks in the same holder as the small forks in the silverware drawer. In fact, please do not put my dishes away at all. I appreciate your kindness and if you truly want to help me out, wash the windows or do the floors. I hate that stuff. I like my cans all facing the same way and grouped together. For example, keep the soups together, the spaghetti sauce together and the pastas in the same basket by kind.
6. People who cuss. According to Google, "The Second Edition of the Oxford English Dictionary contains full entries for 171,476 words in current use, and 47,156 obsolete words. To this may be added around 9,500 derivative words included as subentries." You cannot find other words to use besides swear words? They only make you sound illiterate.
7. People who smoke. This is never an attractive look for anyone. Plus, it makes you smell bad and turns your teeth yellow. On top of that, it is bad for everyone around you. STOP IT!!!!!
8. People who commonly and frequently say, "Oh My God!" Sorry, I know this is a touchy one but it is offensive, especially if you believe in God.
9. Texting at the dinner table. If I cannot get 30 minutes of your undivided attention each day there is something wrong. You can wait a few minutes to write, "OMG, Wuz up?"
10. Having to wait for the bathroom in a public place just because I am a girl. Why can't the women's restroom be twice as big? You know we never go there alone.
11. Yes, this one is a bonus! People who say, "Happy Holidays!" instead of, "Merry Christmas!" and those who write Xmas instead of Christmas. We do not make exceptions for other holidays. You will never hear someone say, "Happy Candles!" when it is Hanukkah. Why should Christmas be messed with? It is the day of Christ's birth no matter what religion you are. Get over it!

No Way!!!
Yes, it is true, I actually made these ornaments with help from my crafty friend Stephanie. (You should check out her blog at http://www.bowdenfamily5.blogspot.com/, it has a link to her craft page as well.)
Every year my friends and I gather for an ornament exchange. You bring 15 ornamnets that are the same and you go home with 15 different ornaments made by everyone else. Each year there are some incredible ornaments that I love. Every Christmas, I on the other hand, bring a dorky, uncrafty, whimpy ornament. Yes, I am the one responsible for a cookie cutter on a ribbon. I know, I know, very sad. I have even bought the ornament kits from Oriental Trading that are used for kindergarten classes. I am usually there to eat and provide comic relief to the group.
This year is different! I am so excited about these ornaments because they are adorable and were so easy that even a crafty limited person like me can do them! Who knows, this may inspire me to go on!
Merry Christmas!

Volleyball
Congratulations Cougars!!! You did it! You made school history and brought home the very first school championship in any sport. Although Becca and I missed the last 2 games because we were in Denver, we were there in spirit. Thanks to some wonderful moms, we had the play-by-play over the phone. I might have had a stroke if I was there on the sidelines so it may have been a blessing in disguise that I was in Denver.
These girls are amazing. They lost their first four games and went on to take home the title. I have been fortunate enough to watch them grow on and off the court these past few weeks. I honestly believe that God rewarded their sportsmanship and their encouragement to others by allowing them to defeat the undefeated teams to win the championship. These girls always said encouraging things to every player, regardless of the play. They were uplifting to the other schools we played. Their kindness and respect not only for their team, but the coaches, the opponents and the fans, showed their true character. I am so proud of them! The girls could not have done it alone, they had an amazing coach (Mr. Navarro) and some very supportive parents.
Next week is the banquet and I am sure I will have more news to share.

Surprise!
My wonderful brother-in-law decided to surprise my little sister last week for her 40th birthday. He flew the three of us to Denver as her birthday present! We left on Wednesday morning and went straight to her work. He sat her down and blindfolded her. The kids snuck in and kissed her on the cheeks and told her Happy Birthday. It was wonderful! We convinced her to leave work early and go home with us where my niece Mercedes was very surprised when she opened the door to her room and we were standing there. A little while later we went to see Myrissa at basketball practice. I stood at the corner of the court and waited for her to notice me and when she finally did, her jaw dropped. It was terrific!
We also got the chance to visit with my 92 (almost 93) year old Granny. She is amazing. We also got to see my Uncle Joe and my favorite cousin, Kerri, and her family. When we spend time in Denver, it always makes me want to move home. Then, comes the cold, cold weather and I change my mind again. I love SoCal!
It is hard to believe that my little sister and I have now both moved to the higher check box in life. We are no longer in that 25-39 category. Yikes!
I am very thankful to Roy for his generosity. We had a great time!

Welcome
Welcome to the Gutierrez Family blog. Yes, we are jumping on the band wagon. Our friends, the Bowdens, have created one and it was so cute, we thought we would follow.
There is nothing special about us, we are ordinary goof balls trying to do the best we can and make a difference for those around us. We believe that God's plan to use us (ordinary people) for extraordinary things. He will be successful if we get out of His way and let Him work.
Each of us will be updated soon so you can learn more of what we are up to. We promise to be honest and sincere in our posts. We are not perfect, in fact, we are far from it. Living so far from family, we thought this would be a good way to keep everyone updated with our antics. We would love to hear from you by mail, phone, text, email, visits, any way you can think of. Our door and our hearts are always open.
So sit back, grab a Diet Coke and read all about us. If you have some funny stories to share, please do.
Thanks for visiting our site!
